What is Integration, SCADA & Data Historian and how will they benefit you?
Integration is bringing a lot of systems into one, so there is a central location for operators to work. Integrating multiple systems may sound like a simple task, however it usually takes lots of knowledge and understanding of how the equipment and process works so that operators can function with maximum efficiency. Montana Controls will work with your operators who understand the system, to make it the best system for your operation.

What is SCADA?
Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition which is abbreviated to SCADA.

SCADA Systems are used to monitor and control a Manufacturing location, Power Generation Plant, Mine, Water System or many different faculties or many different kinds of equipment.
- Control industrial processes locally or remotely
- Monitor, gather, and process real-time data
- Directly interact with devices such as sensors, valves, pumps, motors and getting them to work as one with a PLC or HMI
- Record data into a log file
Most Commonly used application are Water Treatment, Waste Control, Energy (power generation facility’s), refining or mining (oil, gas, metal, coal), manufacturing and many more Industrial applications.

PLC “Programmable Logic Controller”
A PLC is a Programmable Logic Controller or a Industrial Digital Computer. The PLC where first developed for the automotive manufacturing industry it was created between 1958 and 1960. Early PLC’s were designed to replace relay logic systems which were engineered in “ladder logic” which is still used today and resembles a schematic diagram of relay logic.
The PLC today is used for many different applications not just automotive it is even used in Commercial application to run thermostats and lighting. A PLC has many different inputs and outputs along to automate many different kinds of processes and or machines while also monitoring them. PLC’s have many different kinds of communications.
Using a PLC gives you the following:
- Reliability
- Flexibility
- Space Savings
- Ease of Changing Process
- Remote Operations or Access
